Benefits are an important part of every employee’s overall compensation and Samaritan Health Services offers a wide range of options so each employee may choose what is best for their individual needs.
Samaritan’s comprehensive benefit program includes generous medical, pharmacy, dental and vision coverage for eligible employees and their dependents. We offer two plan options, including a health savings account eligible high deductible option.
Flexible Spending Account
Save money by paying for eligible health and dependent day care expenses with pre-tax dollars.
Samaritan offers two retirement programs that work together to assist employees in saving for their future. Under the SHS Retirement Plan, which is fully funded by Samaritan, eligible employees receive a contribution equivalent to 4% of eligible wages, plus an additional 4% contribution for wages in excess of the Social Security taxable wage base up to the IRS annual compensation. In addition, our tax sheltered annuity plan allows employees to contribute their own funds and eligible employees receive up to a 2% match.
Life & Disability Insurance
Life insurance — a one-time payment of employee’s annual salary up to $500,000 maximum.
Accidental death and dismemberment — 2 times annual salary up to $500,000 maximum.
Long-term disability — 66 2/3% of employee’s monthly salary up to $15,000 maximum per
Short-term disability — 66 2/3% of employee’s weekly salary up to $3,500 maximum per week.
Employees may purchase additional life insurance up to a maximum of $500,000 for the employee and
spouse or domestic partner.
Additional AD&D insurance available.
Long-term care insurance -- $1500 monthly benefit in a LTC facility or 50% professional home &
community care for 3 year duration. Employee may purchase additional coverage or cover spouse/domestic
partner on a voluntary basis.
Critical illness, accident, whole life, and air ambulance coverage are offered on a voluntary basis.
Undergraduate and graduate classes are reimbursed at up to 75% (up to a yearly maximum of $5,250) for
tuition and books. Available to employees who work at least half time.
Clinician Well-Being Program
Formal Clinician Well-Being Program, which is supported by a Clinician Well-Being Chief Officer, includes:
Care for the Caregiver.
Reimbursement for participating in approved health-related classes, gym memberships and activities up to the yearly maximum of $300.
VITAL WorkLife EAP
Confidential counseling services for employees and their immediate family members.
Family Connections — child care and elder care referral services.

Samaritan Health Services provides professional liability coverage to employees, employed medical professionals, residents and certain contracted medical professionals through Paradigm Indemnity Corporation; a self-insured captive insurance company. Professional liability coverage will be provided for activities that fall within the scope of your duties for Samaritan Health Services beginning on your initial date of employment through your termination date. It does not include intentional acts, criminal activity, sexual misconduct, or licensing board actions.
